Ethos

  • Gaia Ashtanga Yoga is a safe and inclusive space in which everyone is welcome regardless their age, body type, flexibility/strength and prior yoga experience.
  • As a reminder of our connection with nature, we honour the cycle of the moon by not practising on full moon and new moon days.
  • Please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne or heavily scented deodorant and, preferably, shower before coming to the shala.
  • Focus and concentration are essential elements in the yoga practice and are nurtured by silence. Please be quiet when you are in the shala, including when you arrive as well as when you finish your practice and leave.
  • Being respectful of our own body cycles, female practitioners should refrain from practising during, at least, the first two days of menstruation.
  • To encourage generation of inner heat we do not drink during practice. Furthermore, practice should be done on an empty stomach.
  • Please bring a towel with you if you tend to sweat when exercising.
