“By tapping into our inner wisdom, yoga shows us that happiness lies within. It inspires us to live simpler but more meaningful lives using only what we really need while respecting the boundaries of our beautiful planet.”
Gaia Ashtanga Yoga is a yoga school, or shala, devoted to the teaching of Ashtanga Yoga following the tradition established by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. Classes are taught in a Mysore style, allowing students of all levels and stages in life to practice at their own pace and to receive personalized attention in a group setting. This teaching style stimulates inward focus, concentration and meditation, fundamental elements in the yogic practice. The shala is housed in the beautiful and peaceful Neo Yoga Delft studio in Delft (Kluizenaarsbocht 6, 2614 GT Delft).
The teacher, Irene F. Villegas, is an academic, mother of two and devoted yoga practitioner with a passion for sharing her experiences with others. She started her deeply transformational yogic journey in 2013 and has, since then, had the privilege of experiencing Ashtanga Yoga from the rich variety of perspectives provided by diverse teachers. She returns each year to Morjim, India to practice with Sharmila Desai, a profoundly inspiring teacher and human being.
